Having a kitchen in a school provides numerous benefits. It allows students to learn practical skills such as cooking, nutrition, and food safety. A school kitchen also supports healthy eating by providing fresh, nutritious meals, promoting better focus and overall well-being. Additionally, it can foster teamwork and creativity as students work together to prepare meals, encouraging collaboration and hands-on learning.
At Snowy Valleys School we use our kitchen space for a range of learning activities such as;
· Life skills
· Food and kitchen safety
· Health and nutrition
· How to cook
· And we even use our cooking facilities for maths and science activities
Currently our Kitchen consists of:
Ovens, stove tops, dishwashers, sinks, fridge, Interactive white board (IWB), cooking utensils, mixers, air fryer, toasted sandwich makers, sushi rollers, electric fry pans along with a range of ingredients including produce from our very own garden
