Sensory needs can really impact how students learn. Studies show that incorporating sensory activities into the daily routine can have a positive impact on student learning. At Snowy Valleys School we use a variety of sensory tools, spaces and programs in our daily teaching.
We have our very own sensory room in our school. We worked with a number of therapists from Kurrajong Therapy Plus to ensure this space had the necessary equipment to benefit a variety of sensory needs. The Sensory Room has a large variety of sensory equipment such as:
- crash mats
- an interactive whiteboard
- LED light tubes
- sensit chairs
- a platform swing
- blackout curtains
- illuminated water tubes
- yoga balls
- a cocoon hanging tent
- LED musical touch wall
- fibre optic fountain
- body rollers
- and other specially chosen equipment just for our students' sensory needs.
Classrooms also have a variety of alternate seating options and sensory tools available for classroom and learning spaces.
